Tolerance development in food protein-induced allergic proctocolitis: Single centre experience
2017, Allergologia et ImmunopathologiaCitation Excerpt :However, the pathogenic mechanisms that affect the eosinophilic inflammation in the colon are not exactly known.2,4,25 Ohtsuka et al.26 have recently demonstrated that CCL11 (eotaxin-1) mRNA and CXCL13 mRNA were highly expressed in the large-intestine mucosa of infants with FPIAP compared with control subjects. Delayed maturation of the intestinal flora in infants with rectal bleeding has been reported in recent years.

2014, Jornal de PediatriaCitation Excerpt :Regarding the selected articles, the following data were evaluated: age and gender of the infant, clinical picture and diet at diagnosis, tests, prescribed treatment, and allergy challenge test was performed. A total of 770 articles were identified in the initial search, of which 32 were selected according to the predefined inclusion criteria, evaluating 314 infants.11–42 According to data shown in Table 1, of the 314 infants, most were male and younger than 6 months.
Gastrointestinal food allergy in infants
2013, Allergology InternationalAdvances in allergic skin disease, anaphylaxis, and hypersensitivity reactions to foods, drugs, and insects in 2012
2013, Journal of Allergy and Clinical ImmunologyCitation Excerpt :Food protein–induced proctocolitis is another non–IgE-mediated disorder of infants characterized by mucus and blood in stools often attributed to cow’s milk. Ohtsuka et al26 evaluated the transcriptome of mucosal biopsy specimens of affected infants and did not confirm an allergic signature, which is in line with some studies suggesting that symptoms can be from infection in some patients and dietary exclusion is not needed. Elucidating the pathophysiology of food allergy is necessary for developing better diagnostic, treatment, and prevention strategies.
